EEC 003: Heart in Business with Mark Vandeneijnde
In this episode, you will learn how to combine the world of business with the world of the heart. Katrina Burrus, PhD, MCC interviews Mark Vandeneijnde on his new book, “Heart in Business: From Breakdown to Breakthrough”. By not combining the world of Business and the world of the Heart, untapped potential is lying dormant.
The voice of heart implies that there is knowledge available to us from the heart, that we can listen through the heart and that we can access some kind of information, some kind of knowledge, some kind of intelligence. We need all our intelligence and potential in today’s world. Why?
The world is increasingly complex
One of the things that are creating this complexity is the fact that stakeholders, the different stakeholders have become much more powerful. So it’s not just about shareholders anymore but – and it’s not just about consumers and customers anymore. But it’s government. It’s NGOs. It’s environmental organizations. It’s all these different stakeholders that have become much, more powerful and have a much stronger voice at the bargaining table.
So this increased complexity is a real challenge and I think that the traditional ways of running a business, i.e. one that is very rational, very numbers-driven, very much driven by the intellect, is no longer going to be sufficient to meet these increased complexities.
Mark thinks a more balanced approach, one where you can connect at a deeper level at a heart level where you connect deeper and empathize, are going to be skills that are going to be much more important and much more valuable moving forward.
Why is it important to combine the heart and business
Find out what is the world of the heart and why it is important to know and what tips and strategies can be used to have a deeper experience that will enable you to know at a deeper level and allow you then to step back and see more clearly new ways forward.
