Your host Katrina Burrus, PhD interviews David Drake, PhD who also earned his PhD in Human and Organizational Development from Fielding Graduate University in California. David has been an adjunct faculty member teaching management and leadership for three universities and lectured at over 20 others around the world. David serves on the Senior Advisory Board for Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research, and Practice. He is the author of over 50 publications on narratives and coaching and editor of The Philosophy and Practice of Coaching (2008, Jossey-Bass). He is the author of Narrative Coaching: Bringing New Stories to Life (CNC Press, 2015) and the co-editor of SAGE Handbook of Coaching (Sage, 2016). He is a Thought Leader for the Institute of Coaching affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
Dr. David Drake founded and runs the Center for Narrative Coaching & Design in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has studied human dynamics for 30 years, with a particular passion for change and transitions. Lucky for him he has had plenty of practice at both in his own life and career. David has designed and delivered change, coaching and leadership initiatives for over 70 organizations, including Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Dropbox, Google, Nike, PwC, Westpac, and Australia and US federal governments. He has taught coaching skills to over 10,000 leaders, managers, and professionals, primarily in support of strategic and culture change initiatives.
